Russet Lake / Photographs

Third Year in a row I went to this lovely lake. Last year I had to cut short my stay because of mice attacks. This year I put my food in a Ursack, a bear-proof bag which also works great against critters. I also froze my food the night before I left.

According to the BC Parks website, the bridge at Harmony Creek was washed out which worried me a bit but I was able to cross by walking on rocks.

Because of the large amount of snowfall last winter, the wild flowers were not as abundant as last year and there were lots of snow around the lake.

I met a group of 6 young people at the campsite, Australians and New Zealanders. They built a bonfire and started drinking and invited me over to chat. I told one of the girls fire is not allowed at Garibaldi but she didn't seem to care.

The next morning, I walked closer towards Cheakamus Glacier to take some pictures but I woke up late and the magic moment had passed. That's something I had to work on next year. Then I hiked up Fissile Peak but it was too steep for me. I wasn't prepared for the loose scree. In the afternoon, I took some pictures around the meadows and stream.
